1. I have been bitten by an animal, what do I do next?

If severe, seek medical attention first, then call Animal Control (580) 924-3737 if the bite happened within city limits of Durant.

You will need to locate the pet's vaccination record and provide to the animal control officer. If the pet's vaccination is out of date or cannot be found you must quarantine your pet at your local veterinarian for ten days.

3. I found a stray, what are my responsibilities?

Attempt to locate the owner within your neighborhood, by social media, or the newspaper. If no owner can be found, please contact animal control.

4. My pet is lost, what do I do now?

Check with neighbors in your area that may have seen your pet. You may also check the lost, found or adopt area of this site. If you'd like to add a photo of your lost pet to our website contact Animal Control at (580) 924-3737. Go there now.

5. What is the cost of adoption?

There is no adoption fee, however there is a $35 sterilization deposit mandated by state law. This fee is 100% reimbursable if the pet is spayed or neutered within the proper time frame.
