Thank you for visiting the City of Durant’s website and your interest in its privacy practices. The City of Durant Oklahoma (referred to as “City”) provides this privacy notice to you to explain how the City collects, uses, shares, and secures data that it receives through your use of the website and City related applications. The City of Durant is subject to and complies with the Oklahoma Open Records Act (51 O.S. §§ 24A.1 – 24A.33). Pursuant to the Open Records Act, some records must be made available for review and copying upon request. By downloading City provided applications or voluntarily providing data on the various applications or websites provided by the City you are agreeing to the terms and use of the data.

Data Collection

The City collects data when you visit the website, register for services, or utilize a City owned application on your mobile device. In the course of performing its duties, the City of Durant Oklahoma may collect personally identifiable data as supplied by applicants, licensees, vendors, or other individuals doing business with or interacting with the agency.

Analytics Data

The City does not collect personal information when you visit its website unless you voluntarily submit it for a specific purpose. If you do nothing during your visit but browse through the City website, read pages, or download information, our website's operating system will automatically record some general information about your visit. The information collected is used to improve the content on the website and to help the City webmasters understand how people are using the site so we may improve it for the good of the community and the services we provide. Analytics Data is data that the City’s analytics’ provider, Google Analytics and or Civic Plus, collects on the City’s behalf to help the City understand its website traffic and the users of its website. The data is limited to the number of users that come to the site, session statistics, approximate geolocation, and browser and device information.

• The Internet domain (for example, "abccompany.com" if you use a private internet access account, "schoolname.edu" if you connect from a university's domain, or “agencyname.gov” if you connect from a government’s domain) and IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the web) from which you access our website

The City’s website and available applications includes forms that allow a person to submit personal data voluntarily. The types of data any of these forms collect are limited to specific data to identify your account for utility services, weather services, emergency services and or other City supplied services on a per use case basis. The data is retained for the specific use of the application or form as needed to provide the service requested.

Data Use

The City uses the data you provide solely to provide City services, including evaluating volunteer position applications, job applications, permitting, reviewing and responding to your comments and questions, and to improve City services, including this website.

By default, this information does not identify a site visitor by name or address and is used for gathering website usage statistics unless voluntarily provided. The information the City automatically collects pertains to your visit and does not identify a visitor by personal information.

Data Sharing

The City may share data with third parties that provide services to the City, solely to enable the City to provide services to you. Those third parties are under an obligation to keep your data confidential. The City may also share your data with other federal, state, and local agencies as part of working together with those agencies. The City will not share data with any other parties and will never sell your data.

Aggregated Anonymized Data

The City may combine (“aggregate”) your data with other data to create reports it may share with the public or other third parties for noncommercial purposes. Your data will be anonymized before being combined with any other data. An example of this type of data use is a statistical report the City prepares and provides regarding annual visitors to its website and the pages visitors visit the most.

Data Retention

The City is required to follow record retention guidelines issued by the Oklahoma State Archives. The City generally retains website data for two years. Certain data in forms may be downloaded from the website by City personnel and may have a longer retention period. For example, application records expressing interest in serving on boards or commissions must be retained for three years. In general, the City will retain your data only for as long as the City needs the data to carry out the purpose for which the City collected your data, including for retention purposes.

Sharing data with the City by using the forms on the City’s website is voluntarily. The City uses reasonable administrative, physical, and technical safeguards that are designed to ensure the security of the data you share with the City when using the website or any City provided service or application.
