The Police Training Officer Program is structured into the following sixteen-week cycle. Each phase of training focuses on a specific mode of policing. Even though the training team will be responsible for answering calls for service, the training objective for the phase will be addressed.
- Week 1-3: Administration Phase; training focused on getting the trainee acclimated to policing.
- Week 4-7: Phase One; training focused on non-emergency response characteristics of police patrol efforts.
- Week 8-11: Phase two; training focused on general patrol activities.
- Week 12-15: Phase three; training focused on criminal investigation techniques and how they apply to the patrol officer’s duties.
- Week 16: Shadow Phase; One week final evaluation
